What's up Lincoln?
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Jon Keenan and I am the music director at 89X. I love music, and keeping on top of what's new and what's coming up next in Alternative music. So without further ado I'm gonna get right to what I love, and if you listen to 89x, you love too. The music
New on 89X
Desolation Row by My Chemical Romance- This song, which is from the watchmen soundtrack, is basic straight-forward pop rock. It Debuted at #32(on the R&R charts) and as hype for the Watchmen movie grows you can expect to see this song climb higher in the charts.
This Town by O.A.R- I love O.A.R because they make such happy upbeat music. This song makes me smile like all O.A.R. You will like it, especially if your having a bad day.
Pale Bride by The Von Bondies- The Von Bondies are a band you've probably never heard of before so I will take this chance to say your welcome. They play tight and fast Indie rock filled with pop hooks and both male and female vocals. They are awesome, listen for Pale Bride because I'm definetly palying at least once during my shifts.
Life in Techinicolour II by Coldplay- The original Life in Technicolour was an insturmental track that opened Viva la Vida. I always wondered why they never put any words to it. It's honestly even better. Their new ep called Prospeckt's March which features a lot of expounded on ideas like this song and Lost+ (which features Jay-Z), as well as four other new songs that add a lot to the ideas they presented on Viva la Vida.
Band of the day for 02/06/08------- Modest Mouse
I love this band. They have been making music that is both mainstream and different then anything else for over ten years now. Lead singer and lyricist for the band Issac Brock is an absolute genious. He manages to teter on the edge of sanity and sometimes fall off. Brock's lyrics may seem crazy but they always are filled with emotion. For their latest release, We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank, they added legendary smiths guitarist Johnny Marr ( search youtube for how soon is now by the Smiths I'm sure you've heard it) and they are way better for it. You've probably heard their big hits. They made a splash on the Billboard top 40 with Float On and Their single off We Were Dead ,Dashboard, has been on the radio for a while, but I'm here to show you three songs off that album which are way better then any of their singles. Check these out!
Steam Engenius
Missed the Boat ( Brock's lyrics are incredible! He really is gifted)
and last but certainly not least, probably my favorite modest mouse song Ever...
